The Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Garden in North Salem is a not-for-profit center for the humanities.  Through programs, events, music and the arts, the Museum seeks to provide links between the East and the West.

The Northern Westchester Center for the Arts in Mount Kisco offers a full program including dance, arts and theatre for pre-school children through adults.

Entertainment and Recreation

If you like to golf, Westchester has plenty of options.  The County has 5 County, 2 municipal and 43 private golf courses and clubs.  The County is also the site of the N.Y. metropolitan area’s only annual PGA and LPGA events.  You can find local information on private and public golf courses in "Suburban Golf " - a monthly insert during golf season in the Westchester Journal News.  Visit the official Westchester County Web site for County golf courses

Professional sports include: Harness Racing at Yonkers Raceway, The United States Tennis Association and the permanent training site of the New York Rangers NHL hockey team and the New York Knicks NBA basketball team.

How about catching a show at the longest running, year-round equity theatre in the State of New York?  It's only a short drive to the Westchester Broadway Theatre!

Parks, Preserves and Trailways

For a tranquil afternoon or a fun filled day with family and friends, visit one of Westchester's 51 County parks with 15,900 acres of beautiful park land.   For a taste of history, you'll find the John Jay Homestead nestled right in Katonah.  Muscoot Farm is around the corner with hayrides and farm animals.  For a rides and cotton candy experience, the County also owns Playland, an amusement park located in Rye.

Horsing Around
If you enjoy horseback riding or a scenic hike, the Bedford area is the place for you!
Bedford is home to the Bedford Riding Lanes Association, a non-profit organization dating back to 1920.  The Association maintains over 100 linear miles of trails in and around town.  For more information, visit the BRLA or call (914) 234-2752.

For a day with nature, Westchester offers nature centers, preserves and conservancies.  The Teatown Lake Reservation encompasses over 730 acres of land, including a 33 acre lake, streams, gorges, forests and meadows.  Westchester also boosts 4 County trailways, including the North County Trail.   In all, the trails offer more than 90 miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails.

Get Local Start your day in the morning at the Katonah Museum of Art, then visit John Jay Homestead (don't forget to see The Herb Garden!), then have a picnic at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation (bring your walking shoes, bikes or a frisbee in case you decide to stay)  and afternoon tea at Caramoor Center for the Arts.  (which also offers wonderful picnic grounds and a full schedule of summer muscial events)
